Where a porch roof joins the original house
If your home has a lower porch roof, water from the roof above can concentrate near its wall connection. Flashing has to direct that water back onto the roof surface, with its laps integrated into the covering and the wall. Sealant along the visible edge does not replace that layered detail.
The lower roof’s slope also matters. A covering that works on the main steep roof is not automatically suitable for a shallower porch. During repair or replacement, we consider that section’s own drainage and material requirements, including where different coverings meet.
A recurring leak at this connection belongs in the roof repair discussion even if the rest of the house is dry. We can explain whether it is a contained flashing repair, more work beneath the covering or a wider roofing issue.
